Prior to participating in the Guild, all persons must join the Guild by completing a New Member Application, paying a $50 annual dues fee, and completing our Basic Operation & Safety (BOS) class ($10 charge - includes a set of safety eyeglasses).

There are two tracks that new members may take - members wanting to use our woodworking machinery, or members wishing to only participate with the Technology, Woodcarving or Railroad Special Interest Groups (SIGs).  Members taking the SIG only track will not have to be trained on the woodworking machinery in the shop.  Note that this track WILL NOT allow you to operate woodworking machinery in the shop, with the exception of Tech SIG equipment (if you join and train with the Tech SIG).

Prior to independently operating our shop equipment, members must complete cluster classes ($80) sessions that introduce new members to most of the equipment in our shop.  Cluster classes are followed by a Practicum where the newly trained members will produce 3 projects using the skills they have learned in cluster training.  Once a new member has attended and passes the cluster/Practicum classes, they can operate most of the woodshop equipment.

Take a look at our Shop Calendar (link is at the top of our page) to see what kind of training we are offering and how often we do so.

You will receive training on most of the machinery (with the exception of some of the more advanced machinery) in our shop.  The training will be delivered by experienced members of the Guild and will cover all the steps required to be able to produce a professional quality cutting board.  After completing Cluster training, you will be authorized to use the machinery on your own.  Click on the link above.
